Preview:
Tunisia hasn't won a World Cup game since 1978, when they
trounced a strong Mexican
squad 3-1.
Led by former France
coach Roger
Lemerre, Tunisia hopes to build upon their success at
qualifiers and at the 2005 Confederations Cup. The
Tunisian squad is highlighted by strikers Haykel Guemamdia and
Brazilian-born
Francileudo Dos Santos, as well as Ajax defender Hatem
Trabelsi.
Tunisia is obviously an underdog in Group H, which includes
Spain
and Ukraine,
but that's on paper, and anything can happen when the games
are actually played out. Lemerre's experience should be
a big asset as the team prepares for a crucial June 14
showdown with Saudi
Arabia.
Result:
Tunisia battled hard in the pivotal game against Ukraine,
and lost on a questionable penalty against Andriy Shevchenko
